Dr. Ailis Marrero is a double boarded Family and Obesity Medicine physician. She was born in Puerto Rico and received her medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine in 2004. She completed her residency training at USC California Hospital in Los Angeles, California and Dr. Pila Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico. From an early age and fueled by her own personal struggles with metabolic health, she began her lifelong quest to integrate holistic and conventional therapies in optimizing health. Her desire is to be part of a practice of medicine that is not only dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of disease but of one that focuses on the restoration of health and vitality. She is passionate about metabolic health with particular emphasis on thyroid health and weight management. She is driven to equip patients with the education, treatment options, and tools necessary for transformative and enduring change. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, is an avid reader, and also enjoys salsa dancing, singing and hosting gatherings with her 2 young daughters and husband. Traveling is her love language.
As a chronic and autoimmune condition, it is often misunderstood and poorly treated. Symptoms can vary from person to person and so can treatment responses making it imperative to individualize and tailor care to the individual. A collaborative and comprehensive approach is often needed to bring about optimal outcomes for our patients.
Personalized and holistic. We are whole beings and as such I like to explore aspects that could be contributing to symptoms and responses, and incorporate medical management with lifestyle and mind-body practices.
